Public Health recommends private well owners test for bacteria, nitrates and fluoride. Testing for bacteria is free and is funded by Public Health Ontario.
Testing for nitrates or fluoride is $21.40 each. Make sure you follow the sample collection and submission guidelines for nitrates and fluoride. If samples do not meet the guidelines, they will not be tested.
Drop-off for nitrate and fluoride testing is only available on the last Tuesday of each month. Proof of payment for nitrate and fluoride testing must be provided when you drop off your sample. Filled containers must be dropped off within 24 hours of taking the sample. See drop-off locations below.
